Better check to make sure it's sealed! : EternaBond RSW-4-50 White Roof Seal
My initial rating of this product would have been 4 stars. The only initial downside is the creasing and having to work it around corners and non-flat surfaces. It does NOT provide a very clean smooth look. Unless your application is completely flat, you will have to deal with creasing of the outer backing. After one Seattle winter and despite all the proper preparation prior to installing, the corners are starting lift off and in some areas where there were creases, the backing started to lift off. I installed this with thorough cleaning and using a metal roller that cost me $20. I applied this to both front and rear cap seam of my RV and can now see the ends starting to flap like wings. Re-rolling after a year's worth of weathering works for about 2 minutes and adhesive fails again. I was very disappointed. After a year, of trying this out, I would give it a rating of 1 star. It did keep the rain water out, but it sure looks ugly and failure after one year is unacceptable for the price you pay. It's ugly when installed and looks even worse after year. Duct tape would have looked and fared better. This product is best for small repairs on rubber or metal roof where the surface is absolutely and completely flat. I would not recommend this even in an emergency or temporary repair application, just because it takes an eternity to remove the adhesive. For lazy people like me, don't be fooled by the marketing of "Eternabond" as if it is going last a lifetime. You will have to do yearly maintenance even when using this product - it is NOT a permanent repair. In my case you'll be doing more work than you care to do. Don't be fooled by the "Microsealant Technology" like it is some super advanced product. They have a ways to go with the technology. If they can figure out how to get the backing to conform and shape to your specific application then it might fare better as a permanent repair. Perhaps a thinner film that could be applied with a heat gun, allowing it to shrink to fit. One more note on removal, it is a NIGHTMARE. It's like removing gum off of your shoe, except you have about 20 feet of it. I had to resort to using a chemical adhesive remover but even with that it was not an easy feat. I'm going back to lap seal, it looks better and easier to maintain.
